webmaster a écrit:John, 2 questions about TED 20 :
- What fuel is easy to find now to put in ?
- Have you got the correct ignition timing for the TED (you told me it is different than on the TEA)
Many thanks
You can manufacture your own TVO that will be cheaper and the engine will run satisfactorily, just remember to get to the correct working temperature of 75deg C before you change over to TVO (make sure your temperature gauge is working properley and change your engine oil regularly (every 60working hours) or you will get premature engine wear and the grade of oil in the engines should be heavier than the gasoline models because of the higher temperatures involved. Make sure that the manifold cover is fitted too so it will keep the manifold as hot as possible and will vaporise more easily..
Recipe 1.
75% paraffin (cheap)
15% Petrol (ignition/vaporization)
10% Diesel (upper-cylinder lubrication)
recipe 2.
20 litres 28 second central heating paraffin
5 litres of unleaded petrol
3 litres diesel (I use red diesel)
Recipe 3.
4 gall heating oil
1 gall petrol
1/5th pint 2 stroke oil
These recipes come from the FoFH site so they should be ok.
If you have anymore questions regarding this problem just mail me again please.
Regarding the ignition timing for these TVO engines it should be 6deg BTDC, it is important that you use the correct spark plugs on these engines when you are running on TVO or you will have misfire problems, originally they were Champion N21 set to .030" - .035"( .76 - .89m/m) Contacts should be set to .010" - .012" (.25 -.30m/m) 6volt models and .014" - .016" (.36 - ..42m/m) 12volt models. It is ok to use equivelant plugs as the Champion type but we always used to get better results with the Champions. Heat range is important.
any further questions regarding this just ask.
